Frequently Asked Questions:
When is the tailor usually in?
Kiymet is the tailor and owner of La' Ber. She is typically in everyday after 9:30 AM until end-of-day. Our end-of-day changes over the seasons; we close at 4:00 PM in the summer and winter, and we close at 5:30 PM in the spring and fall.
Kiymet also goes on two annual vacations every year:
Winter - mid-January into February (about 3 weeks), and
Summer - July until early to mid August (about 6-8 weeks)

Do you require appointments?
No, we do not make appointments for any clients outside of bridal. You may walk-in during business hours for dry cleaning or tailoring services.
ALL BRIDAL CLIENTS MUST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! Please, do not walk-in if you would like to alter your wedding gown. It is very important that you call us ahead of time, as we have multiple bridal appointments every day during our busy seasons. We like to focus on our bridal clients (as some bridal appointments can take up to an hour or more), and cannot have 2 brides back-to-back for the sake of making time for other walk-in clients throughout the day. If you simply give us a call, we can do our absolute best to fit you into our schedule!

What is the turnaround for tailoring services?
It all depends on what you bring in! Most items can be rushed if absolutely necessary, but the earlier you bring in your items, the better! Turnaround typically depends on how much volume we have at the time of your drop off, and how much work is required for your items. Here are examples of turnaround times we give for different services that are not being rushed:

I've never been to a tailor; what should I expect?
We're here to help! Bring in the clothes you wish to have altered to your body, and be prepared to try them on in shop! We have a private fitting room for you to change comfortably, and Kiymet & Leyla are here to help make any suggestions to the clothing you bring in; don't be afraid to ask any questions. If you want to wear any special shoes with the clothing (especially long gowns!), we ask that you bring the shoes you plan on wearing for accurate fitting of the length to the shoe height you wear.

Your website says cash only for tailoring/bridal services, how would I know how much to bring?
No worries! We understand that not everyone knows our pricing or carries cash with them all of the time, so we accept payment at the time of pick-up. If you would like to pay your tailoring bill with credit card, we will apply a fee to the total amount that you owe (anywhere from $5 to $20).

Why do I have to pay for my dry cleaning / laundry orders at drop off?
Honestly? Motivation to pick-up your order! For several years, we have always had an abundance of unclaimed orders that we then have to sort through and discard/donate. Cleaning is an expense for our business; monetary and time. Orders that are unpaid and unclaimed are a huge loss to our business, and if you would like us to stay in business, we need these orders paid for! Naturally, people have tendencies to forget about their dry cleaning, or they move away, etc. - especially when it's not paid for. We believe that clients are more likely to remember their orders when it's paid for! ;) This is a No Exceptions Policy; if you do not want to pay for your order upfront, then we cannot accept your order. We accept credit card payments for all dry cleaning orders over $10.

Why don't you accept credit cards for tailoring services?
For some time, we were accepting credit cards for all services in our shop. Unfortunately, these fees became extremely costly for us as a business that our only options were to: (a) increase our prices significantly; (b) charge an additional fee for every credit card transaction; or (c) request that all tailoring services are to be paid in cash, and keep the credit card fees for dry cleaning (since bills are usually lower, resulting in lower fees per transaction). Long story, short: we work very hard, and our labor is manual - the processing company was taking our hard earned money in fees, and we just weren't havin' it anymore! ;) [Side Note: We always give a receipt for your payment.]

What are your tailoring prices like?
This one's a biggie! Pricing all depends on the items, the services, and the amount of work. We cannot give you an exact price, and sometimes we cannot even give you a quote, over the phone/text/message, without seeing the items during an in person fitting. We may be able to give you a rough range or starting price, depending on the item/service you inquire about.

You said you'd send a text when my items are ready for pick-up, but I haven't received a notification yet. What should I do?
Technology sucks sometimes, and messages can get stuck in our outbox without our knowledge. Messages are sent manually by our staff using our business cell phone. If our staff is out for the day or on vacation, you will not receive a message until they return. If you do not receive a text 1-2 days before our promised pick-up date, please simply give us a call! [Side Note: If you changed your phone number, and you did not notify us - we won't know! ;) Please always keep your tailor in the loop too!]

Will my items be fully pressed when I drop them off for tailoring?
Unless you specifically ask for a press-only service, your item will not be fully pressed. We iron the areas that we service (ie: the hem of the pants or dress, the sleeves of a jacket, etc.) but we do not do a full press unless it is specifically requested (fee applies).
